AF dominate Defence Services Boxing Meet

Champion Sri Lanka Air force Women’s Boxing team with officials

The Defence Services Boxing Championship 2024/25, which is a part of the 13th Defence Services Games organised by the Sri Lanka Air Force, was held at the Gymnasium of Air Force Base Katunayake.
More than 46 competitors representing the service participated in the event. During the championship, the Air Force Women’s Boxing team was crowned as the champions of the Defence Services Boxing in the Women’s category with three gold and two bronze medals out of five weight classes in the Women’s category.
Army won the Men’s Boxing Championship, while the Air Force Men’s Boxing Team secured the runners-up position of the championship with two gold, four silver and four bronze medals out of 10 weight classes approved for the Men’s category.
Corporal H.A.W.K. Kumara and Leading Aircraftwoman L.I.N. Malshani were nominated as the Best Loser of the Men’s and Women’s categories, respectively.
The Director General Ground Operations, Air Vice-Marshal Ruwan Chandima, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest of the final awards ceremony. Senior officers and other ranks of the tri-forces were present to witness the event.
