Sri Lanka 4×400m Women Medal ceremony

Olympian Sumedha Ranasingha and Rumesh Tharanga qualified for the Men’s javelin throw final on the fourth day of the 26th Asian Senior Athletic Championships 2025, which continued in Gumi, South Korea yesterday.
Ranasingha qualified from round ‘B’ throwing a distance of 81.33 metres and secured fourth place while Tharanga qualified from round ‘A’ with a distance of 83.71m and won second place.
Out of the 21 players from the Asian region for the event, only 12 athletes have qualified for the final with the final scheduled for today.
In addition, 400m bronze medallist Kalinga Kumarage qualified for the Men’s 200m semi-finals by securing second place in the second heat with a time of 21.73s but he decided to withdraw from the semi-finals due to an injury.

Meanwhile, Yupun Abeykoon participated in the preliminary event of the Men’s 4x100m relay but the ace athlete had to abandon the race midway due to an error in the baton exchange. Therefore, the Sri Lanka Relay team did not qualify for the final of the Men’s 4x100m relay.
Abeykoon, who arrived in South Korea from Italy, was set to run in three events but he participated only in the 4x100m relay and withdrew midway through the race.
Rasara Wijesuriya is also scheduled to compete in the Women’s 5,000m final today, the final day of the competition.
The Sri Lankan contingent consisting of 20 athletes, have so far won three bronze medals at the end of the fourth day of the meet.
