Home advantage for Sri Lanka
The 2025 ICC Women’s World Cup is set to be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka, with Colombo playing a prominent role by staging several key fixtures, including all of Pakistan’s group stage matches, multiple high-profile clashes, a semi-final, and potentially the final on November 2.
Sri Lanka, competing on home soil, will kick off their campaign against tournament hosts India in the opening match on September 30 in Bengaluru, before returning to Colombo for several vital contests.
Sri Lanka’s schedule includes matchups against Australia (October 4), New Zealand (October 14), South Africa (October 17), Bangladesh (October 20), and Pakistan (October 24) — all of which will be played in Colombo. Their group stage concludes with a second meeting against Australia on October 25 in Indore.
This marks a significant occasion for Sri Lankan women’s cricket, not only competing in front of home fans but also being part of the nation’s first co-hosting of a women’s global cricket tournament.
