Richmond College were 144 for eight in reply to Mahinda College’s first innings score of 217 when bad light put an end to the second day’s play of the 120th edition of the Lovers Quarrel Big Match continued at the Galle International Stadium yesterday.
Mahinda, starting day two, on their overnight score of 217 for nine were all out 10 balls later, with no addition to the score.
Senuka Dangamuwa (58), Skipper Kaveen Rukshan (49), Randula Mabaran (38) and Thevindu Rashmika (30) were the only batsmen to enter double figures.
For Richmond, Pubudu Mihiranga captured three wickets while Malith Mihiranga and Yuri Koththigoda captured two wickets each.
In reply, the Richmond batsmen faced 75 overs to post 144 for eight with opener Nikil Jayaweera topping the scorecard with 45.
Skipper Kaveen Rukshan was the pick of the Mahinda bowlers capturing four wickets and would be looking forward to add another scalp to it when play resumes today.
