111th National Tennis Championship: Final showdown

The semi-finals of the 111th National Tennis Championship Under-18 Girls and Boys singles which were worked off at the SLTA tennis courts in Greenpath, Colombo yesterday saw Dinara de Silva and Yuhansa Peiris in the girls’ category and Methvan Wijemanne and Ganuka Fernando in the boys’ category being victorious to book their berths in the final.
In the girls’ event, Dinara defeated Vinethya Dharmaratne but underwent some anxious moment before winning it by two sets to one while Yuhansa had an easy passage against Sandithi Usgodaarachchi.
In the boys’ category Metvan and Ganuka coasted to easy wins against Ashlin de Silva and Aahil Kaleel by the identical winning margin of two sets to nil.

Results:
Singles: Dinara de Silva beat Vinethya Dharmaratne 2-1 (7/5, 6/4), Yuhamsa Peiris beat Sandithi Usgodaarachchi 2-0 (6/0, 6/0).
Semi Finals: Boys’ Under 18 – Methvan Wijemanne beat Ashlin de Silva 2-0 (7/6, 6/0), Ganuka Fernando beat Aahil Kaleel 2-0 (7/6, 6/2)
