The recent announcement by the Minister of Buddha Sasana regarding potential changes needed to the existing laws governing temple and dewala lands has sparked concern among Buddhist clergy and devotees.

The Vinaya Karma, a set of rules and regulations imposed by Lord Buddha, has been the guiding principle for Buddhist priests for nearly 2600 years.

The potential interference by  laymen in the government in the Vinaya Karma, and  existing laws governing temple and dewala lands, has raised concerns about the potential erosion of the autonomy and sanctity of Buddhist institutions. It is essential to ensure that any changes to the existing laws are made in consultation with the Buddhist clergy and are guided by a deep understanding of the Vinaya Karma and its significance.

To maintain the integrity and sanctity of Buddhist institutions, it is crucial to preserve their autonomy and ensure that any changes to the existing laws are made with the utmost care and consideration. This can be achieved by Consultation with Buddhist Clergy and with their consent only. This is a task for the Sangha Sabhawa. There are many things to be done for the masses, to  improve  temple conditions instead of meddling in the discipline of monks.

May all beings be happy.
