Give the boy a chance

Your article about the politicians pensions are ‘spot on’ and my hats off to that.

Although what you say about the cost of living is correct, we all seem to forget that the country was completely bankrupt when it was taken over by the new govt, and they had to face unprecedented obstacles and restraints enforced by the IMF when we were forced to go to them with a begging bowl.  Although basics are still expensive, the poorest and most deserving have been given relief I believe by way of increased ‘aswasma’ and a lot of other reliefs and also the people have received considerable salary increases I believe.

AKD did say he does not have a magic wand.

The government is faced with a Herculian task of getting rid of layers and layers of corruption in every field.

When Margaret Thatcher came into power in the UK in 1979, the Daily Mirror in its front page showed a lot of fallen leaves on the ground along with a rake and a slogan saying: “Give the Girl a chance to sweep up the place”.

I am asking the daily mirror editor to let the nation realise that we should “Give the Boy a chance to sweep up the place.
