Trishaw driver arrested for indecent exposure

• Victim took a photo of the trishaw, enabling police identify the suspect

A trishaw driver who exposed himself to a female tourist was arrested yesterday by the Habaraduwa Police. The 30-year-old suspect is a resident of Poddala, Galle.

The victim told police that the trishaw driver attempted to take liberties with her, and when she protested, he exposed himself and fled. The Englishwoman, who is visiting Sri Lanka, has been staying at a house in the Makuluwa area in Galle. On the day of the incident, she was taking a stroll along Cheithiya Road in Rumassala when the trishaw driver approached her and attempted to harass her.  

When she raised cries, he exposed himself and fled the scene. She managed to take a photo of the trishaw, which helped police identify the suspect.

He was to be produced in court.
