Sri Lanka performs first successful adult-to-adult live donor liver transplant

Donor was the elder sister of the patient

Doctors at Kings hospital have successfully completed the first-ever adult-to-adult live donor liver transplant in the country.

According to hospital management, the donor was the elder sister of the patient who needed the transplant.
Both the donor and the patient were discharged from the hospital just one week after the operation.

Until now, many patients with serious liver problems had to travel abroad for this life-saving surgery. With this success, patients have a chance to get the same treatment locally.
