Sri Lanka participated in the world’s first global legal framework designed to strengthen international cooperation to fight digital crimes – from cross-border fraud and money laundering to organized cybercrime.
Acting Secretary Ministry of Digital Economy Waruna Sri Dhanapala attended the Signing Ceremony of the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime, hosted by the Government of Vietnam, in collaboration with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) on October 25-26, 2025.
This is another milestone in Vietnam - Sri Lanka relations on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations.
According to China’s Xinhua News Agency, held under the theme “Countering Cybercrime - Sharing Responsibility - Securing Our Future,” the event brought together UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, along with leaders and senior representatives from about 110 countries and numerous international organizations.
