Sri Lanka Muslim Media Forum elects New Executive Committee and marks 30th anniversary

The Sri Lanka Muslim Media Forum (SLMMF) held its Annual General Meeting and 30th Anniversary Celebration on Saturday at the Colombo Post Office Auditorium.  

During the meeting, the new Executive Committee for 2025/2026 was elected. M.B.M. Fairooz, Editor-in-Chief of Vidivelli newspaper, was chosen as President, while Shums Fahim, Local News Editor of Thinakaran, was elected Secretary, and Kiyas A. Buhary Treasurer.  

Cader, U.L. Mabrook, Rifthy Ali, M.F. Rifas, Ramzi Kuddoos, Ashraf A. Samad, Sameeha Zafeer, Sadiq Shihan, M.A.M. Nilam, Sihar Anees, Jemsith Azeez, S.M. Rizwan, S.N.M. Suhail, A.H.M. Fowzan, and Javid Munawwar.  

The anniversary ceremony was chaired by senior journalist and outgoing Forum President N.M. Ameen. Minister of Health and Mass Media and Cabinet Spokesperson Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa MP graced the occasion as Chief Guest, while the Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Sri Lanka, Khalid bin Hamud Al Qahtani, attended as Guest of Honour. Several distinguished personalities also participated as special guests.  

As part of the programme, financial assistance was extended to ten journalists, and the Sinhala translation of the book Nabigalarin Samooha Vazhvu by Tamil Nadu Professor M.H. Jawahirullah was launched.  

The event also recognised the contribution of thirteen veteran journalists, who were honoured for their longstanding service in the media industry.
