A suitable  residence for former President Mahinda Rajapaksa is yet to be found, despite four properties being inspected so far, sources revealed.
A special team has been assigned to locate a residence with appropriate access and facilities to accommodate the former President’s ongoing engagements, including meetings with diplomats and other dignitaries.
Meanwhile, speaking on the matter, Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) General Secretary, Attorney-atLaw Sagara Kariyawasam, emphasized the importance of securing a proper residence for Mr. Rajapaksa, citing the former President’s active involvement in political and diplomatic affairs.
He expressed confidence that a suitable house would be identified soon.
The search follows the passing of a special bill in Parliament, which resulted in all former presidents losing access to state-allocated official residences. Until a new residence is secured, Mr. Rajapaksa continues to reside at his private residence, Carlton House, in Tangalle.
