Schools targeted in nationwide dengue Control drive today

Colombo, June 18 (Daily Mirror) - In line with the ongoing National Dengue Control Week, authorities have launched a nationwide dengue prevention programme today (18), focusing on schools and other educational institutions as efforts continue to curb the worsening dengue situation across the country.

The programme covers government and private schools, pre-schools and all other educational institutions, with inspections and mosquito control activities also being carried out in the surrounding areas to eliminate potential breeding sites.

The National Dengue Control Week, which began on June 15, was introduced in response to the heightened dengue risk prevailing across the country.

As part of the week-long campaign, dengue control programmes will be extended tomorrow (19) to all government and private institutions, including factories.

The campaign will conclude on June 20 with inspections and mosquito control activities at private residences and surrounding premises, with health authorities urging the public to actively participate by removing stagnant water and maintaining clean environments to prevent mosquito breeding.
