In the wake of a global fertilizer shortage triggered by the Middle East crisis, Sri Lanka has secured a monthly import of 220 tonnes of Ammonium Nitrate from India, the Daily Mirror learns.
It is a chemical formula used in multiple industries including the agriculture sector as fertilizer.
The Indian government had imposed a ban on export of Ammonium Nitrate in view of the ongoing global supply chain challenges. However, the Sri Lankan government had requested for resumption of supply in view of urgent requirements of the Sri Lankan industry.
Considering the request of the Sri Lankan side, India has permitted the export of 220 MT of Ammonium Nitrate per month to Sri Lanka with immediate effect.
