Poacher dies after gun misfires in waist

A 33-year-old poacher from Radaniara in Walasmulla died yesterday morning after a gun he was carrying in his waist accidentally misfired while he was riding a bicycle.

The father of three and a retired soldier of the Sri Lanka Army Engineering Corps sustained serious injuries and succumbed upon admission to Walasmulla Base Hospital.

Investigations revealed that the locally made muzzle-loading gun went off around 2 a.m., causing fatal injuries.
Walasmulla Police are conducting further investigations.
