Newly built Gopur pillar will be declared opened on Saturday

In commemoration of The Buddha’s third and final visit to Kelaniya, along with 500 Arahants on the invitation of Naga King Maniakkitha of Kelaniya on a Vesak Full Moon Poya Day, a newly built Gopur pillar will be declared open at the Kelaniya Raja Maha Vihara on Saturday 7th December 2024 at 4.30 p.m..

The pillar was offered by Dhammika Attygalla, the President of the Kelaniya Raja Maha Vihara Development Council, Vice President of the Dayaka Sabha and Chief Basnayaka Nilame and Pathmasiri Hapangama, Member of the Kelaniya Raja Maha Vihara Development Council, Treasurer of the Dhayaka Sabha.  

 This will be declared open by the chief incumbent of the Kelaniya Raja Maha Vihara and the Vice Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya Venerable Professor Kollupitiye Mahinda Sangarakkitha Thero in the presence of Dr. Saman Weerasinghe - President Dayaka Sabha and members of the Kelaniya Dayaka Sabha.
