The National People’s Power (NPP) government has not made a  big difference where the development of the country is concerned, Former  MP Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka said yesterday.
“People say they don’t see anything happening and then they  should be right, obviously. We only see rulers coming up with various  statements and debates in Parliament,” Field Marshal Fonseka told  journalists.
Asked about the pledge given by President Anura Kumara  Dissanayake that he will eradicate drugs and the underworld mafia under the  ‘Clean Sri Lanka’ national programme, the Former Army Commander said  eradicating the underworld and drugs is no easy task. “I am not saying that the underworld and drugs cannot be got rid of. However it is a very difficult  task,” he said in this regard.
Also, he said there are few positive developments as well under the
current regime.
