National Shoora Council condemns the unprovoked Israeli aggression on Iran

The National Shoora Council (NSC) in a media statement has  condemned the several rounds of unprovoked Israeli aggression on Iran  overnight Friday, 13th June, attacking multiple Iranian civilian  targets, killing Iranian civilians, scientists, and civilian nuclear  facilities.

The NSC strongly condemns the dangerous Israeli attacks on  Iran’s electricity-generating civilian nuclear plants, which could have  resulted in extensive radiation leaks, causing death and destruction to  millions in the region. US President Donald Trump must be equally  condemned for admiring the Israeli attacks as “excellent’ as quoted by  the BBC.

The undeclared attacks were launched by “nuclear armed  Israel”, provoking “non-nuclear armed Iran” into an uncalled-for war on  the pretext of unresolved nuclear-related issues hitherto dealt with  through dialogue by the United Nations’ International Atomic Energy  Agency (IAEA).

Friday’s most dangerous Israeli aggression is worse than  the 2003 invasion of Iraq with then US President George Bush backed by  British Prime Minister Tony Blair falsely alleging Saddam Hussain Iraq’s  Baath Party leader was armed with chemical and biological weapons of  Mass Destruction (WMD) and deceptively claiming that Britain was only 45  minutes away from destruction from Saddam’s WMD.

NSC urges the Sri Lanka government to condemn the Israeli  attacks, promote dialogue through the IAEA in the interest of world  peace and economic relief and ensure the prompt and safe return of the  20,000 Sri Lankans sent by the previous government to replace the  Palestinians, thereby illegally aiding the Israeli settlers in the  ‘Occupied Palestinian Territories’ in violation of the recent advisory  opinion of the International Court of Justice.
The NSC welcomes the statements by Saudi Arabia, Qatar,  UAE, Jordan, New Zealand, Australia, China, Russia, European Union (EU)  and several other countries condemning and censuring the provocative  Israeli bombing of Iran in multiple waves of attacks.

The NSC also welcomes the statement of the Communist Party  of Sri Lanka (CP) condemning ‘the Zionist aggression of the Islamic  Republic of Iran’, ‘calling upon the Sri Lanka government to condemn the  attack’, ‘sever ties with the Zionist entity’ and to take steps ‘to  protect the Sri Lankan workers in the Middle East’.
