Misuse of Government lands reported to CID

• Complaints have been lodged regarding three major land plots under the Land Reforms Commission
• Two lands in Kandy and in the Gampaha district is reported to have been misused on a large scale

The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Land and Irrigation have filed complaints with the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) concerning the large-scale misuse of lands in the past.  
Deputy Minister Susil Ranasinghe told media that complaints have been lodged regarding three major land plots under the Land Reforms Commission.  
 It is reported that two lands in Kandy and in the Gampaha district have been misused on a large scale. He said those who have encroached land in areas such as Nuwara Wewa will be severely dealt with.   
 The Deputy Minister further noted that special attention will be given to complaints related to such misuse of lands in the future.
