Kandy a high risk area of Dengue

Health authorities have warned that the Kandy District is on the verge of being a high risk area of Dengue fever.  
Community Health Officer Dr. Suranga Fernando told the District Coordinating Committee that the deadly disease was reaching epidemic proportions. He said the most number of Dengue positive cases had been reported from Yatinuwara and the Kandy Municipal area.   
He pointed out that an area would be considered as a high-risk area of Dengue fever if the number of patients reported was 100 per week. He said the number of patients had exceeded that limit and that 340 patients had been reported from the district for May and 116 patients for the last week.
