Japanese Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Akio Isomata, has emphasized the importance of increased youth participation and the consolidation of expertise for sustainable social development.
Speaking at the Annual General Meeting of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Alumni Association over the weekend, Ambassador Isomata urged the association to focus on engaging young people and leveraging professional expertise within its network.
“I would like to request the JICA Alumni Association to include more young people in your activities. It’s essential to build dynamic connections so that expertise can be effectively harnessed for the betterment of society,” he said. “Your association comprises experts from a wide range of fields. Rather than merely increasing membership, your focus should be on gathering and utilizing this dynamic expertise for nation building.”
Ambassador Isomata expressed his appreciation for the association’s contributions over the past five decades, acknowledging its longstanding commitment to development and cooperation.
“Let us move forward dynamically as we continue to strengthen the relationship between our two nations. May the bilateral ties between Japan and Sri Lanka continue to flourish,” he added.
