The Japanese Graduates’ Alumni Association of Sri Lanka (JaGAAS) announced the inaugural JaGAAS Life-time Award – 2025, recognising outstanding Japanese and Sri Lankan alumni of Japanese institutions who have made immense contributions to Sri Lanka’s economy and society.
This prestigious awards ceremony will take place on March 21, 2025, from 2.00 to 5.00 PM at Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH),
Colombo. The event will be graced by Akio Isomata, the Ambassador of Japan in Sri Lanka, as the Chief Guest, with the JICA Representative in Sri Lanka attending as the Guest of Honour.
For the first time, seven Japanese and 10 Sri Lankan awardees have been selected for their remarkable contributions across various sectors, including agriculture, business, education, technological development, and sustainable peace.
These awards highlight the strong ties between Japan and Sri Lanka and recognise the role of Japanese-educated professionals in driving national progress.
Organised in collaboration with the Embassy of Japan in Colombo, JICA, and representatives of the Japanese community in Sri Lanka, the JaGAAS Life-time awards – 2025’ aims to celebrate individuals whose work has had a lasting impact on Sri Lanka’s development while further strengthening the bond between the two nations.
