Hotel owned by Governor’s wife to be demolished

• Several hotels , places of religious worship and government official quarters on the tank reservation had been identified and that a decision regarding them would be taken soon

A Hotel belonging to the former Governor of the North Central Province Maheepala Herath’s wife Ajantha Rupasiri Herath built on the Perimiyankulama tank reservation, is currently under a demolition order.  
Anuradhapura Central Nuwaragam Palatha Divisional Secretary Sudarshana Dissanayaka has informed her to demolish the hotel built on the tank reservation.  
At present, the Department of Irrigation has launched a programme to demarcate boundaries of tank reservations in the Anuradhapura District on a policy decision of the government.  The Divisional Secretary said the hotel on the tank reservation was an unauthorized construction and that he had ordered the former governor’s wife to demolish it. The Divisional Secretary said, in case of her failing to remove the building within a month, steps would be taken by the government to demolish it. He said several hotels , places of religious worship and government official quarters on the tank reservation had been identified and that a decision regarding them would be taken soon.
