Heavy rain in central hills

Heavy rain is experienced in the western slopes of the central hills at present. Hydropower reservoir catchments in Maskeliya, Norton Bridge, Laxapana, Bogawantalawa, and Samimale areas which had been affected by dry weather for several months are now receiving a high rainfall. 

However, the Engineers in Charge said the water level in Maussakele and Castlereagh hydropower reservoirs stood respectively at 34 and 40ft below the spill level by last morning without any substantial improvement despite heavy rain experienced at present.
