Govt.’s weak approach had let armed groups to dominate: Sajith

The Government’s weak approach in maintaining law and order had led certain armed groups to dominate and continue their crimes freely, Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa said yesterday.   
Speaking to media after paying his last respects to slain Weligama Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman Lasantha Wickramasekera, Mr. Premadasa said that a request made by the late chairman for security was neglected by the government.   
“Late Wickramasekera was not allowed to run the Weligama Pradeshiya he was elected to. This is the kind of culture that is prevailing in the country today,” he said.   
“What we are experiencing today is jungle law,” he added.   
Also Mr. Premadasa called for an independent probe on the killing of Weligama Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman.
