Government assures necessary security for MR

Amidst various concerns about the security of former president Mahinda Rajapaksa, Deputy Minister Mahinda Jayasinghe said the government has assured him the required security and no issue will arise regarding that.

The deputy minister told the media that the government has already informed former president Rajapaksa that the government is ready to provide him required security after a threat assessment on him.

He said this while responding to a question about various claims made by opposition politicians that the government has removed former president Rajapaksa’s security to please the Tamil Diaspora.

Various opposition politicians raised concerns about Mahinda Rajapaksa’s security after the bulletproof vehicle assigned for his security unit was returned to the government last week.
