Giant manta ray weighing over 500 kilograms caught in Mannar

A giant manta ray weighing over 500 kilograms was caught today in the coastal waters of Mannar’s Mutharipputhurai area.

The massive ray was trapped in the fishing nets of local fishermen who had gone out to sea this morning.

Due to its enormous size, it could not be brought ashore in a single boat. Even with the assistance of another boat, the fishermen were unable to lift it. They eventually had to tie the ray with a rope and drag it through the water back to shore.

A large crowd of onlookers gathered on the beach to witness the rare catch.
