Statements have been recorded from some 48 persons including 12 civil witnesses, 7 Army personnel and 26 police personnel under a fresh probe launched by the government in connection with the Easter Sunday bomb attacks, Public Security Minister Ananda Wijepala said yesterday.

He told Parliament that the Fort Magistrate was briefed on the fresh probes launched by the government on November 11, 2024.

Responding to a question, the Minister said the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) and Terrorism Investigation Division (TID) have been conducting investigations and that 747 individuals have been arrested so far following the investigations and that 41 cases have been filed in the High Court against 100 suspects and indictments have been issued over 14 cases by the Attorney General.

The Minister said further investigations are being conducted over the attacks based on the revelations made by the Channel 4 and other investigations and added that legal action would be taken against those responsible following the information revealed by the investigations.
