Free Media Movement gets new board of executive committee

The Annual General Meeting of the Free Media Movement was held on Tuesday, May 27th at the Sri Lanka Press Institute Auditorium, where the new board of executive committee for the term 2025 /2026 was elected.

Journalist Dileesha Abeysundara was appointed as the new Secretary, whilst Journalist Lasantha de Silva was appointed as Convener,  with Media Trainer Ananda Jayasekara and Journalist R. Ramkumar appointed respectively as Treasurer and Assistant Secretary.

The Executive Committee elected for the coming year includes journalists and social activists C. Dodawatte, Hana Ibrahim, Sunil Jayasekara, T. M. G. Chandrasekara, Udaya Kalupathirana, Sujeewa Senarath and Niranjani Roland. Journalist Saroj Pathirana and social activist Shamini Boyle were elected as the new trustees.

The Free Media Movement remains dedicated to its mission of safeguarding freedom of expression and media independence in Sri Lanka.
