Divisional Secretary and Probation officer arrested

Rajangana Divisional Secretary and the Senior Probation Officer of the Provincial Probation Department were arrested yesterday by Anuradhapura Police on suspicion of employing a 17 year old girl at Anuradhapura Avanthi Children’s Home as a helper and being cruel to her.   

The suspects were the Divisional Secretary, formerly the Provincial Commissioner of Probation Upali Rajapakse and the Senior Probation Officer Amara Shriyani.   

They were summoned to Anuradhapura Police and arrested after recording their statements. They were to be produced before Anuradhapura Magistrate. on the instructions of the Attorney General.   
HQI Anuradhapura Police R.M. Jayaweera is conducting further investigation on the instruction of SSP Thilina Hewapathirana
