Cabinet approves deal with Vitol Asia to supply fuel for six months

The Cabinet approval has given the green light to award the contract for the procurement of five shipments of 92 Octane Unleaded petrol to M/s Vitol Asia Pte. Ltd., Singapore, marking a key step in ensuring the country’s uninterrupted fuel supply over the next six months.  The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation had called for bids from registered suppliers to supply five shipments, each consisting of approximately 300,000 barrels to be delivered between April 15, 2025, and October 14, 2025. A total of seven suppliers submitted bids in response to the tender. 

Following a detailed evaluation process, the Standing Procurement Committee and the Special Standing Procurement Committee appointed by the Cabinet recommended awarding the contract to M/s Vitol Asia Pte. Ltd., the substantially lowest responsive bidder.
