The Court of Appeal has fixed April 28 to deliver its order on whether to proceed with the writ application filed by former Minister Prasanna Ranaweera, who is seeking an order to prevent his arrest in connection with the alleged illegal sale of government land in Kelaniya.

The Court of Appeal made this order after considering a petition filed by Prasanna Ranaweera.

Ranaweera filed this petition requesting an order to prevent his arrest in connection with an incident involving the illegal sale of government land in the Kelaniya area. The Mahara Magistrate’s Court has already imposed a travel ban on three suspects including Prasanna Ranaweera in connection with this incident.

Former Minister Mervin Silva and two others have been remanded until April 2 by the Mahara Magistrate’s Court for their alleged involvement in selling state-owned land to a private party after forging documents.
