Banana leaf handicraft course launched in North Central Province

North Central Province Education Department has inaugurated a dry Banana leaf-based handicraft course to produce new entrepreneurs and to develop their artistic skills.   

 A senior official of the Department of Education said the handicraft course is open to school leavers and young men and women who opt to enter the field of self-employment.   

 He said the programme implemented by the Non-Formal Education Unit of the Department of Education was already underway in several areas in Anuradhapura District, including Green Park Centre in Anuradhapura Second Stage and Rambewa Buddhist Centre in Anuradhapura Education Zone.
