Around 15 more Lankan underworld figures to be repatriated: Minister

Around 15 Sri Lankan underworld figures living aboard have been arrested as of now by the respective countries in which they are currently residing, Minister of Public Security Ananda Wijepala said.  
He said underworld figures are among those against whom international red warrants have been issued. “Some 70 Sri Lankan underworld figures have been issued red warrants as of now,” the Minister said.   
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, together with Interpol are making arrangements to repatriate the 15 underworld members. This is being done with the advice of the Attorney General‘s Department,” he added.   
Also he revealed that some 1,698 firearms have been recovered since January 1 this year.   
Furthermore, the Minister said there has been 105 shooting incidents in Sri Lanka this year.
