12 kilos of heroin seized at Homagama - one arrested

A close confidante of an underworld gangster and drug trafficker popularly known as” Homagama Gagana” hiding in a foreign country was arrested and a stock of 12kilos of heroin seized during a raid in Homagama by the Western Division (North) Crime Investigation Unit. The suspect Prasad Nishantha Colambage is a resident of Homagama. Police said following the arrest of the drug trafficker and underworld gangster Ranjith Kumara alias “Konda Ranjith” by the Dubai police , a massive network of drug trafficking and those involved have been exposed and that more than 37kilos of heroin had already been seized and several suspects arrested. The suspect arrested in Homagama with 12 kilos of heroin was one such. A senior police official said several more suspects would be arrested and a stock of drugs seized. A police team under OIC Crime Investigation Unit IP Pethum Anjana is conducting further investigations on the instructions of ASP (Administration) P.Kumaradasa and Director ASP Chaminda Dharmaratne.
