To Thaththi with Love

Three months have passed so swiftly, for us it seems like yesterday. Your smile, your voice your jokes they linger close to us as if though you are yet near. Looking back on all that’s left behind is a story of an era of eight decades.  An exemplary character never on the fence you were either hot or cold about views, opinions’ and beliefs.

Discipline was of utmost importance to you as a father. You didn’t hand us over to school and wash your hands. You were constantly behind guiding us mostly through your own example. You never forced us to respect you nor did you behave like the god of the home. Your simplicity was what kept us attracted to follow your instructions and honor you as our father.

You were the king who loved his queen with all your Soul. She was the twinkle of your smiling eyes. This was the fairy tale we lived our early years upon. You made sure that everyone had a share of happiness at the castle of our home.

As adults looking back we see how blessed we were to be under your care. You were the father who could be trusted. You were our rock in times of need. Your shield of intercessory prayer over our lives has been our greatest strength.

Not only to us your children but to your younger brothers and sisters you were an elder who lived by example. They still weep in sorrow at how silent it seems without your calls.

God first and family second that was the order of your priority list. As age was gracefully setting in, and seasons of your life were changing you would wait for Christmas. This is your favorite time of year because you knew that all of us would come home. This was your greatest joy.  Just as much as you enjoyed dancing for the lyrics and rhythm of Sumihiri Pane you loved to enjoy a shot or two with your children and wife.  Your 3 year old granddaughter Aaliyah sang sumihiri Pane, while you were laid to rest. She was hoping you will sing along not knowing that her grandpa’s jolly spirit is with Jesus now.

Your whole life was an obedient response to God as said in psalm 119. Incidentally this was your favorite chapter of the Bible. You tried at all times to follow the teachings of the scriptures and lived by the golden rule “Love your neighbour as yourself”.

Your wish of always having your children close to you was granted at your final hour. You managed to say your last goodbyes, your words of thanks and Love to your family. You smiled through your pain when you heard our voices and listened to your favorite hymns.  Then God released your spirit and ushered you to eternity amidst our praise and worship to HIM for our dear fathers Life.

You are dearly missed and fondly held close in our hearts
