Burhani Serendib School will host Sri Lanka’s National Selections for the World Robot Olympiad 2025 on September 6 at 12.30 pm, bringing together young innovators from across the country.
The event will determine the teams that will represent Sri Lanka at the WRO International Final in Singapore from November 26 to 28, under the theme “The Future of Robots.”
The event marks a significant milestone for the nation, opening doors for young Sri Lankans to participate on a global platform that inspires innovation, creativity, and the future of STEM learning.
Since its inception, the WRO has been more than just a competition; it is a celebration of curiosity and technology.
Each year, thousands of students from across the globe come together to design, build, and program robots that tackle real-world challenges.
The 2025 edition carries the theme “The Future of Robots”, encouraging participants to imagine how robotics can improve lives, reshape future cities, expand humanity’s reach into space, and harness AI-driven solutions to solve the challenges of tomorrow.
For Sri Lankan students, this opportunity is both timely and transformative. Robotics is rapidly becoming a cornerstone of modern education, and hosting the National Selections highlights the country’s commitment to nurturing the next generation of innovators.
Through participation in WRO, students develop not just technical skills, but also teamwork, problem-solving, and the confidence to compete with peers from around the world.
The scale of WRO highlights the significance of this achievement. Each year, the international final is hosted in a different country and attracts delegations from dozens of nations.
More than 500 teams, representing around 3,000 participant, join the event, supported by countless local volunteers and expert judges who ensure the competition is fair, collaborative, and inspiring.
The WRO 2025 International Final will take place in Singapore from 26–28 November, where the best teams from Sri Lanka will have the chance to showcase their talent alongside the brightest young minds from around the world.
Leading this initiative in Sri Lanka is Burhani Serendib School, a pioneer in forward-thinking education.
For years, BSS has gone beyond the traditional classroom, focusing on creating opportunities that equip students with real-world skills. By bringing WRO to Sri Lanka, the school is reinforcing its vision of preparing students to be not just learners, but leaders and creators in a technology-driven future.
“Robotics is about more than machines; it’s about imagination, problem-solving, and teamwork,” a representative of BSS said.
“We believe Sri Lanka’s youth are ready to take their place on the global stage, and hosting WRO here gives them the platform to do exactly that.”
Every participant in WRO takes home more than a medal or certificate, they take with them the experience of creating something meaningful, the friendships forged with peers, and the inspiration to keep pushing boundaries.
For parents, educators, and the wider community, the competition is a powerful reminder of the immense potential that lies within Sri Lanka’s young generation.
With the arrival of WRO, Burhani Serendib School is not only making history but also setting the stage for the future.
This is where Sri Lanka’s journey into The Future of Robots begins. It will be led by its students, its innovators, and its dreamers. Join us on this exciting journey of learning on 6th of September 2025, at Burhani Serendib School from 12 30pm onwards.
