SLPP will decide on Presidential candidate after Basil’s arrival : Prasanna

Sri Lanka Podu Jana Peramuna ( SLPP) will decide on its presidential candidate when former Minister Basil Rajapaksa arrives in Sri Lanka shortly, Chief Government Whip Prasanna Ranatunga said yesterday.    

“SLPP will have to rally around incumbent President Ranil Wickremesinghe as he has managed to bring some kind of stability to the nation. It was Ranil who was willing to take over the nation when others were running away when the country was plunged into an economic crisis in 2022, “he however said.  

The Minister denounced reports that there will be a snap general election soon.
