People were seen purchasing vegetables at the Pettah market in Colombo, where prices of several essential items have declined compared to previous weeks. Traders said improved supply from producing regions and favourable weather conditions have contributed to the reduction in prices of selected vegetables. Items such as tomatoes, beans and leeks were available at relatively lower rates, offering some relief to consumers. However, prices of certain other vegetables remained unchanged, depending on daily supply and demand. The market continued to attract large crowds, as households took advantage of the temporary price drop in the fresh produce sector today. Pix by Kithsiri De Mel
