Week begins in green

Indices closed in green as a result of price gains in counters such as National Development Bank, Teejay Lanka and DFCC Bank with the turnover crossing Rs. 5.5 Bn. High net worth and institutional investor participation was noted in Sierra Cables, Teejay Lanka and Amana Bank. Mixed interest was observed in DFCC Bank, Hatton National Bank and National Development Bank whilst retail interest was noted in LOLC Finance, Browns Investments and Ceylon Land & Equity. Foreign participation in the market activity remained at subdued levels with foreigners closing as net sellers.

The Capital Goods sector was the top contributor to the market turnover (due to Sierra Cables) whilst the sector index edged down by 0.09%. The share price of Sierra Cables increased by Rs 1.30 (9.56%) to close at Rs 14.90.

The Banking sector was the second highest contributor to the market turnover (due to DFCC Bank and Hatton National Bank) whilst the sector index increased by 0.96%. The share price of DFCC Bank moved up by Rs 3.00 (2.52%) to close at Rs 122.25. The share price of Hatton National Bank recorded a gain of Rs 2.25 (0.69%) to close at Rs 330.00.

Teejay Lanka and CIC Holdings were also included amongst the top turnover contributors. The share price of Teejay Lanka gained Rs 3.10 (6.26%) to close at Rs 52.60. The share price of CIC Holdings appreciated by Rs 5.00 (5.18%) to close at Rs 101.50.
