Experiential approach to learning welcomed by teachers and students
UnMath School, an innovate e-learning platform that employs real-world situations to enhance uptake of mathematics, is expanding numbers and presence across schools in Sri Lanka.
UnMath is popular in schools across India, Nepal and the Middle Eastern countries and the company is committed to making mathematics more relatable and accepted by children and adults around the world.
Founded in 2012, UnMath is now expanding its footprint across South Asia and the Middle East and its model is based on taking learning beyond textbooks to make it fun and interactive through a hybrid curriculum. Its experiential approach encourages students to approach complex math concepts through fund and engagement, whilst boosting knowledge of real-world scenarios. This methodology will widen creative thinking and decision-making skills, whilst making math more engaging and relevant, said Dhivesh Bathija, the programme’s Founder and CEO.
UnMath School and its programme are now in Sri Lanka and several schools in Colombo and suburbs have already signed onto the programme. Bathija said his organisation is keen to expand its reach to schools around the island and is engaged with education officials to achieve this end. The programme also imparts learning to teachers and students alike on interactive learning and Bathija says a workshop held at the National Institute of Education in Colombo had been well received by teachers. He added that math is a universal language and the programme is not centred around English.
UnMath School has a range of programmes to suit primary and secondary learning models and employs sustainability practices and models to also enhance adoption of responsible practices amongst students and teachers alike. The programme has empowered over 12,000 teachers and students across 300 schools in the regions so far.
