Colombo, June 24 (Daily Mirror) - Sri Lanka has recorded more than 1.1 million tourist arrivals between January 1 and June 21 this year, reflecting the continued recovery of the country’s tourism sector, according to the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA).
The SLTDA said a total of 1,104,354 tourists arrived in the country during the period.
In June alone, 82,332 tourists arrived between June 1 and June 21.
India remained the leading source market for tourist arrivals in June, with 31,158 visitors, followed by the United Kingdom with 6,658 arrivals and China with 5,178.
For the year to date, India also ranked as the top source market with 281,418 arrivals, followed by the United Kingdom with 104,751 and Russia with 76,963 visitors.
The highest monthly tourist arrivals this year were recorded in February, when 279,328 visitors entered the country.
