Sri Lanka’s private sector will have the opportunity to witness firsthand President Anura Kumara Dissanayake engaging in a fireside chat at the Sri Lanka Economic Summit, set to kick off next week.

Ceylon Chamber of Commerce (CCC) Deputy Vice Chairman Bingumal Thewarathanthri will moderate the discussion with Dissanayake, focusing on Sri Lanka’s vision for sustainable economic development.

The Sri Lanka Economic Summit, the premier and most anticipated annual economic event in Sri Lanka, organised by the CCC under the theme ‘Shaping Sri Lanka’s Future: Trans-formational Growth Rooted in Sound Economic Policies’, will be inaugurated by Dissanayake.

The event will be held on January 28, at Shangri-La Hotel, Colombo.

The CCC’s leadership, including Chairman Duminda Hulangamuwa and Vice Chairman Krishan Balendra, will also be in attendance, with the former delivering the opening remarks at the inauguration.

The opening session of Day 2 on January 29 will feature a fireside chat with Chief Advisor to President on Digital Economy Dr. Hans Wijayasuriya. The discussion on ‘Shaping Sri Lanka’s Digital Economy Roadmap’, focusing on strategies to accelerate digital transformation and advance Sri Lanka’s digital landscape, will be moderated by Surge Global Founder Bhanuka Harischandra.

The summit will explore the right policies to be implemented in achieving an export-led investment model, focusing on leveraging Sri Lanka’s strategic location, its access to rapidly growing regional markets and the necessary domestic reforms to unlock the key export sectors.  Breakout sessions will focus on tourism, agriculture and value-added manufacturing.
