Lanka Nippon BizTech Institute (LNBTI), Sri Lanka’s first Japanese-affiliated IT higher education institute, held its inaugural convocation at the BMICH recently arking a significant milestone in the country’s education landscape and strengthening the long-standing friendship between Sri Lanka and Japan.
The ceremony celebrated the achievements of LNBTI’s first graduating cohort of IT professionals who completed their full degree programme in Sri Lanka under LNBTI’s unique model: “Study in Sri Lanka and Work in Japan.” The programme equips students with industry-relevant IT skills alongside advanced Japanese language proficiency, discipline, and cross-cultural understanding—preparing them for seamless integration into Japan’s technology workforce.
The event was graced by Akio Isomata, Ambassador of Japan to Sri Lanka, alongside the Founding Chairman Koga Michio, Chairman Kazuyuki Ikura, Deputy Chairman Dinesh B. Saparamadu, Vice Chancellor Prof. Ananda Kumara, and members of the academic leadership.
Speeches highlighted LNBTI’s mission to bridge Japanese precision with Sri Lankan talent and nurture globally competent professionals who can contribute to both nations. All the students who have met the required academic criteria have already secured employment opportunities with reputed Japanese companies, demonstrating the success of this pathway.
As LNBTI celebrates 10 years since its establishment, the Institute reaffirmed its commitment to producing future-ready IT graduates and strengthening bilateral cooperation through education, technology, and cultural understanding.
