BOI greenlights US $ 2.99mn Blossom Well project to expand Southern Sri Lanka’s tourism

Blossom Well Holdings (Pvt.) Ltd has signed a US $ 2.99 million investment agreement with Sri Lanka’s Board of Investment (BOI) to establish a boutique hotel in Thissamaharama, aimed at expanding the island’s high-end and midscale tourism offerings.
The project will be developed on land in Kohombagahapalassa, close to the Yala National Park and will feature 72 elegantly designed rooms across four categories, including standard, deluxe, family and suite rooms, with high-end amenities and private balconies. 
The hotel aims to provide a superior hospitality experience for both international and domestic travellers, offering convenient access to the region’s religious, historical and wildlife sites.
Facilities will include a 120-seat multi-cuisine restaurant, with à la carte and buffet options, live cooking demonstrations, an indoor bar and outdoor dining areas overlooking the surrounding countryside. An authentic Chinese restaurant will add further variety to the culinary offerings. 
Recreational facilities will feature a pool with a Jacuzzi, a baby pool, a sun deck with a pool bar, a fully equipped gym, spa and sauna offering mind-body wellness programmes.
Blossom Well Holdings said it would place significant emphasis on culinary tourism, blending local and international cuisines with unique presentation styles. The management plans to recruit experts in their respective fields to train local youth, creating a skilled workforce to deliver high standards of service.
Sustainability will be central to operations, with the hotel adopting solar power, waste-to-energy systems, rainwater harvesting and digitised infrastructure management to achieve energy efficiency and move towards net-zero carbon operations.
“This proposed investment demonstrates a strong commitment to enhancing Sri Lanka’s tourism sector, offering high-quality hospitality experiences while supporting local employment and sustainable practices,” the BOI said.
