Over 150 new members were felicitated at the ceremony
ACCA Sri Lanka hosted its much-anticipated New Members Ceremony 2025 recently. This annual flagship event marked a significant milestone for aspiring finance professionals who successfully completed their journey to becoming members of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA)—one of the world’s most respected global accountancy bodies.
The event was graced by the Deputy Minister of Finance & Planning, a distinguished ACCA member himself. In an inspiring keynote address, he reflected on his personal journey within the profession and spoke of the immense pride in wearing the ACCA pin. He reminded the new members of both the responsibility and privilege that come with joining this esteemed global community.
The evening commenced with a warm welcome by the Chairman of the Member Network Panel, Chaaminda Kumarasiri, Group Managing Director - The Lanka Hospitals Corporation PLC, who lauded the hard work and resilience of the new members and recognised their role in shaping the future of the accounting profession.
Adding an international dimension to the occasion, a special video message from the Global President of ACCA, Ayla Majid reinforced the global relevance, strength, and responsibility associated with the ACCA qualification.
The audience was further inspired by Jehan Perinpanayagam, Immediate Past President, and CEO of Infomate who delivered a compelling speech on “Standing out in a changed world”, the importance of standing out and remaining adaptable in an ever-evolving global business landscape.
A standout moment of the evening was the presentation of the National Member Advocacy Award 2024/25 toDr. Buddhi Pathiraja, Director, BDO Partners. The accolade recognised her exceptional contributions to both the ACCA community and the advancement of the accounting profession in Sri Lanka.
One of the most moving segments of the evening was the Oath-Taking Ceremony, led by the Chairman of the MNP. This solemn pledge underscored the commitment of the new members to uphold the highest ethical and professional standards that ACCA stands for.
Approximately 150 new members were felicitated this year, reflecting ACCA’s growing role in strengthening the local financial sector through globally qualified, ethical, and technically skilled professionals, that drive innovation, governance, and sustainable development across industries.

ACCA Sri Lanka also recognised members who had achieved Fellowship (FCCA) status, celebrating their ongoing dedication and leadership within the profession.
