Schools in WP and SP closed on March 28

All schools in the Western and Southern Provinces will be closed on March 28 in view of the Provincial Council Elections, Education Ministry sources said.

The Education Ministry in a media statement said that Royal College, Isipathana College and D. S. Senanayake College would be closed on March 27 and 28, since they were used as counting centres. Meanwhile, Siyane Education College is to be closed from March 24 until April 2 as it would be used as the counting centre of the Gampaha district while Suchi National School is due to be closed from March 26 to 28 since it is being used as the Hambantota district counting centre.

The Hipitigama National Education College will be closed from March 27 to 30 as it is providing accommodation to outstation staff engaged in election duties in the Western province.

The statement further said no requests have been made so far from Galle, Matara or Kalutara districts.(Lakna Paranamanna)
