Ranil vows to topple govt, like he did in 2001

UNP National Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe vowed to topple this government in the same way he toppled the government of former President Chandrika Kumaratunga.

He told a rally at Avissawela that the UNP would form the next government in 2015.

Mr. Wickremesinghe said there were several who asked him about the recent discussions with the former President and whether he had discussed the ouster of this Government with her.

“I told those who asked me that I did not discuss any political plot with the former President but told them that I will topple this government like the way I topped Ms. Kumaratunga’s Government in 2001 and will make my plan public at the right time,” Mr. Wickremesinghe said

He said in the case of employment opportunities, a future UNP government would give priority to UNPers especially those who had been victimised by the UPFA Government.

“We will provide jobs to every one irrespective of political party affiliations but would give preference to those who have been politically victimised,” he added.

Mr. Wickremesighe said people should not vote for small political parties as it would not do any good to anyone. He asked the people to vote for UNP as it was the only alternative and the better option. (Yohan Perera)
