Video: PM must resign - UNP

United National Party (UNP) parliamentarian Ajith P. Perera said today the Prime Minister should resign for allowing his ministry officials to misuse his post, signature and official seal to obtain Customs clearance for the largest-ever stock of heroin smuggled into this country.

“It is the Prime Minister who appoints his coordinating secretary so he must take the responsiblility for his actions. He cannot say he is unaware of this heroin smuggling racket because he told parliament a year ago that he knew of some politicians engaged in drug dealing. So he cannot say he is innocent or did not know anything about this. If he knew about drug dealing earlier he should have been more cautious about this,” Mr. Perera told a news conference.
