People in 18 houses evacuated

At least 18 families removed from Viharahena area in Deniyaya due to a landslide threat. They have been provided shelter in safer locations. A hill is posing a landslide threat due to the torrential rains experienced in the area at present.

Kotapola Divisional Secretariat has taken steps to provide cooked food to the displaced families. Meanwhile a senior official of the Disaster Management Centre said two houses had already been affected and that a team of relief workers alert to face any situation. (D.G.Sugatapala)
